THE ALISAL GUEST RANCH & RESORT
The vision for this classic guest ranch includes many old-fashioned florals including dahlias, sunflowers, peonies, lilacs, wisteria, lavender, and forget-me-nots. Cottages are named after fruit trees, such as apricot, peach, and apple, adding to the property’s charm. The promenade to the spa is a floral tunnel lined with annuals including Echinacea, Rudbeckia, Zinnia, and flowering crape myrtle trees, reflecting Trace’s goal to create a wonderful experience while exploring the grounds. “One of the great joys of this project was seeing young guests play on the lawns, picking an apple or some blueberries, or pulling up a carrot from the vegetable gardens,” says Trace, the Alisal’s landscape designer for more than fifteen years. “Guests were so inspired here they wanted to recreate the experience in their gardens back home, and that is so satisfying to me.”
